Lost!

After working for more than a decade, I am suddenly lost. I don’t know what I want to do with my life. I don’t have a clear goal of what my career should be. I’ve watched TED talks and read books and read blogs and did personality tests trying to figure out what I want to do and what I can do, nothing. I don’t know. I am completely lost. The more I look at the job listing sites, the more lost I am. I’ve worked in different industries: airlines, trading companies, IT companies, media, government, software and consumer electronics. I’ve held different positions such as customer service, secretary, writer, translator, investor relations, research analyst, product specialist and brand marketing specialist. I’m literally all over the place. That’s why I’m lost.

They are all jobs that happen to fall into my lap. I’m very lucky in a way that I get to experience different industries and job types. But in the end, I don’t know what I want to do.

I did the MBTI test and found out that I am a Logistician which means jobs like data analyst, law enforcement and financial managers. But to be honest, I loved being a research analyst when I was analyzing numbers and dove deep into patterns and insights. It was like being a detective. I think being a detective is my dream job although I can’t really stand blood or dead bodies (that means I’m unqualified completely). I took the test again to see if I can get different results as I have ambiguous answers to most of the questions. Then I got Logician. The jobs that are suitable for logicians are data analysts (what a surprise), software engineers, corporate strategists, technical writers and journalists. I’ve had a few of those jobs.

For those who want to know more about who they are and what kind of jobs suit them, I would recommend this test. It takes 12 minutes to do and it gives a pretty comprehensive insight. I wouldn’t say it’s 100% accurate as I do identify with two of the 16 personalities. I guess most of us can relate to more than one personalities listed here but this test is pretty interesting and might be helpful, I don’t know.

Just Google MBTI test and take whatever test you find and get to know what type you are!
